The weekly caravan that comes to take the recovered artifacts is attacked by bandits on its way out of town.

Astrid and Derrick decide to join the security detail for the caravan to replace 3 guards that were either wounded or killed. They are recovering in Silverbrook.

Along the way a woman comes out of the woods asking for aid in rescuing her husband and child who were captured by bandits.

Derrick decides to follow her and is trapped in a pit trap and poisoned, and falls asleep.

The caravan continues on. They see a man dressed all in black. As they the other guard, Seriphina, is attacked by someone from the trees. Artif true to jump over the horses to engage the new attached but stumbles and lands in the horses. She then whips them and they take off. Astrid notices the door of the coach fly open and a figure falls out and runs back to the bandits. All of the bandits run off harming no one. The bandits get away with a bag of artifacts.

The coach makes it to Silverbrook and Astrid is released to return to Mornings Edge. She rescues Derrick from the pit trap on the way. Derrick was robbed.

They relay the events to Fin at the guild hall.

The party gets much needed rest.
